Just outside of Amarillo, Texas on Historic Route 66 is what I love about America: a place where a helium tycoon supported local artists to bury 10 Cadillacs on his land for art's sake. Collectively called "Ant Farm", this group wanted to honor "America's Best Automobile" and allow the public to permanently add to its design with their own creative touches. Yes, bring the spray paint, (or buckets of paint) and make these cars your own masterpiece. This is a must-see if you're in the area.
The cars are pink because a week before I arrived there was a breast cancer awareness event on this location. They painted over all of the cars and let survivors and supporters express messages of support and memorial to all those affected by this disease.
P.S. The "Show On Map" button below takes you to the exact location on Google Maps. If you click the "Satellite" view and zoom all the way in, you can actually see the line of cars in the satellite photo! Check it out.
