Baile Folclórico 11 :: Cusco, Perú :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
Baile Folclórico 11  This low shot from behind shows a group of 4th grade girls performing a traditional dance. This particular number was to honor the god of the seasons and harvest. The bright colors were supposed to attract attention so their praise would not go unheard.

Baile Folclórico 09  I am caught in the eye of a young girl waiting to perform a traditional native dance of Peru. Every color and bead is symbolic of the many areas of life centuries ago. While these girls dance this dance for fun, their ancestors danced for life and for good fortune upon their families.

Dirt Road Through The Peruvian Andes :: Cusco, Perú :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
Dirt Road Through The Peruvian Andes  This is an example of the original roads used by the Incas thousands of years ago that have been augmented and made relatively less dangerous for automobiles. Seeing this particular road reminded me of traveling through the desert coastal region because there are no guard rails or stop signs. Just road and mountain.
