Tribal Dance :: Mexico City, México :: © 2005 Patrick Esmonde
Tribal Dance  Looking down at me crouched down on the ground, this girl gave me exactly what I wanted: Energy, spirit, and a dirty look. Although I didn´t realize it at the time, I think she thought I was trying to take a picture up her skirt. (The camera was angled upwards from the ground so I could crop out the crowd behind her.)
Celebración De San Judas Tadeo :: Mexico City, México :: © 2005 Patrick Esmonde
Celebración De San Judas Tadeo  At the Temple of San Hipólito on the 28th of each month (and especially in November) huge crowds gather to pray to Saint Judas Tadeo, "the protective lord of the impossible causes, the patients and the rebellious children who have turned aside their way to the vices". I only passed by the festival and didn´t have time to stop in, but I hear it is quite a party.

Evening Party  Although this was not the wedding I was shooting, the layout, color, and lighting were perfect.

2nd Class Bus Party :: Yucatán, México :: © 2002 Patrick Esmonde
2nd Class Bus Party  On the way back from Chichen Itza, the only bus that would pick us up on the side of the road was a 2nd class bus. They will stop for virtually anyone and anything... including people carrying their animals/dinner with them. After talking with the gentleman in the photo for a few minutes, we learned that he was a professional musician on his way to a gig. He immediately pulled out his guitar and started jamming solo. This prompted the entire bus (including some Italian tourists) to start singing, clapping, and laughing. Even the bus driver was singing along! It was good fun and I swore never to take a first-class (gringo) bus the next time I was in Mexico.
