This is an animated loop of images that I took of my crazy sister Michele jumping out of an empty fountain. Celebración De San Judas Tadeo :: Mexico City, México :: © 2005 Patrick Esmonde
Celebración De San Judas Tadeo  At the Temple of San Hipólito on the 28th of each month (and especially in November) huge crowds gather to pray to Saint Judas Tadeo, "the protective lord of the impossible causes, the patients and the rebellious children who have turned aside their way to the vices". I only passed by the festival and didn´t have time to stop in, but I hear it is quite a party.

Alien Triathlete :: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania :: © 2005 Patrick Esmonde
Alien Triathlete  The colors of the goggles are not fabricated. I removed the color around them for emphasis. I also like how her fingers make it look like she has some sort of ribbed nose structure. This is certainly my way of passively-aggressively saying that I think triathletes are a strange bunch.

Padre Y Hija :: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
Padre Y Hija  The Japanese House and Garden (Shofuso) is one of the most notable and unusual attractions in Philadelphia.

This shoin-zukuri (desk-centered) house, built in 16th century style, is located on the grounds of the Horticultural Center in the West Philadelphia section of Fairmount Park. The perfectly proportioned architecture of the main structure and adjoining tea house is enhanced by an ornamental garden and picturesque pond.
Boardwalk Pier 1 :: Seaside Heights, New Jersey :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
Boardwalk Pier 1  This photo was taken right before the July 4th fireworks were to start. You can see people camped on the beach in anticipation.
Trombone Catching :: Lima, Perú :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
Trombone Catching  I loved watching these kids trying to catch the slider of this trombone. When the musician saw the kids lacking a little interest, he would lower the slider just within reach, and then when they jumped at it, he would raise it up again.
´da Sound Guys :: Somerville, New Jersey :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
'da Sound Guys  This was a 10-second exposure in front of a dance floor. They stood as still as they could (and did a good job) to make this picture a cool image without any manipulation.
Chase, Video Extraordinaire :: Somerville, New Jersey :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
Chase, Video Extraordinaire  One of the coolest video guys I have met to date! Young, fun, and not afraid to try some new angles and shots.
The Boardwalk Of Heaven :: Atlantic City, New Jersey :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
The Boardwalk Of Heaven  The multiple layers that vary in transparency is how I always imagined what heaven would look like. Memories and people moving throughout in a whirlwind of activity.

Evening Waves :: Seaside Heights, New Jersey :: © 2003 Patrick Esmonde
Evening Waves  Several waves crashed during this exposure causing there to be a fuzzy "static" of waves. It reminded me of time spent on the beach at night listening to the waves and thinking deep thoughts with my friends.
Boardwalk 8 :: Seaside Heights, New Jersey :: © 2003 Patrick Esmonde
Boardwalk 8  This was a long-exposure shot for about 6 seconds. I like the motion generated in this image. Also, I did not intend for those lights to look as they do, but it was a pleasant surprise.
Boardwalk 2 :: Seaside Heights, New Jersey :: © 2003 Patrick Esmonde
Boardwalk 2  This was a long-exposure image at the boardwalk on a normal summer night. The kid in the bottom left managed to stay still for the entire 5 seconds (which is why he is in focus)
Fun Police :: Seaside Park, New Jersey :: © 2003 Patrick Esmonde
Fun Police  The title of this shot came well after I saw the image on the screen. I think it´s because I was trying to capture a more serious moment, but when I saw the scarily ecstatic clowns in the background, the image reminded me of something I do when people tell me they don´t want to accompany me on some adventure (usually dangerous or ridiculous). I call them the "fun police" and then start making siren sounds and narrating a fake "pull-over" scene on a bullhorn: "Step out slowly with your hands and balloons where we can see them."
Enemy Pedestrians :: Buenos Aires, Argentina :: © 2003 Patrick Esmonde
Enemy Pedestrians  This is the intersection of Avenido Florida and Corrientes. It was insanely packed and chaotic.

Limosnas :: Buenos Aires, Argentina :: © 2003 Patrick Esmonde
Limosnas  I found this priest collecting money for the poor on the street and loved the look of passion and humbleness. The phrase on the box translates as: "There isn´t anybody too poor that they don´t have anything to give, and there isn´t anybody too rich that they have nothing to receive."

Empanadas :: Buenos Aires, Argentina :: © 2003 Patrick Esmonde
Empanadas  I can´t imagine what kind of jokes and cruelty surround the unmasked empanadas when they are at home or out with friends. Do they put this on their resume? You think they need to say whether they were a cheese or meat stuffed empanada?

The Boy And The Birds In The Plaza De Mayo 1  This poor little boy was dropped in the middle of these birds by his parents. While they seemed very amused, I could clearly tell that the boy was less than thrilled. After crying for a couple of minutes, his parents got a clue and retrieved him.
