Tribal Dance :: Mexico City, México :: © 2005 Patrick Esmonde
Tribal Dance  Looking down at me crouched down on the ground, this girl gave me exactly what I wanted: Energy, spirit, and a dirty look. Although I didn´t realize it at the time, I think she thought I was trying to take a picture up her skirt. (The camera was angled upwards from the ground so I could crop out the crowd behind her.)

Shofuso Japanese House 6 :: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
Shofuso Japanese House 6  The Japanese House and Garden (Shofuso) is one of the most notable and unusual attractions in Philadelphia.

This shoin-zukuri (desk-centered) house, built in 16th century style, is located on the grounds of the Horticultural Center in the West Philadelphia section of Fairmount Park. The perfectly proportioned architecture of the main structure and adjoining tea house is enhanced by an ornamental garden and picturesque pond.

Baile Folclórico 11  This low shot from behind shows a group of 4th grade girls performing a traditional dance. This particular number was to honor the god of the seasons and harvest. The bright colors were supposed to attract attention so their praise would not go unheard.

Baile Folclórico 08  Theses hats are on top of 1st grade girls waiting to perform some traditional Peruvian dances for their classmates and parents. My host sister is somewhere in this mix.
