The House In Which Elvis Was Born :: Graceland, Tennessee :: © 2005 Patrick Esmonde
The House In Which Elvis Was Born  In one of the exhibits there was a scale model of Elvis´ childhood home. It was also the place where he was born. The real house is still standing (Phew!) and you can find it somewhere in Tupelo, Mississippi. In case you can´t make it, the image above should give you a good idea of what it looks like squatting down looking through the front gate. (That will be $5 please.)

Lobos Del Mar 5  Even after a large wave, the baby sea lions make it to shore with little trouble. From what the guide said, sea lions have no natural enemies here because the killer whales are too big to get into the small crevices and curves of the island. Population control is provided by the adult male sea lions, who will kill the young to protect their turf.
Lobos Del Mar 4 :: Reserva Nacional de Paracas, Perú :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
Lobos Del Mar 4  I make no claims to being a nature or sports photographer. I´m simply happy I managed to get an image, albeit one out of focus. Good thing I wasn´t hired by National Geographic to cover these animals because I would have failed miserably!
Lobos Del Mar 3 :: Reserva Nacional de Paracas, Perú :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
Lobos Del Mar 3  These sea lions are not like the ones you see at Sea World. They have battle scars, are dirty, and would rather sleep that jump through hoops.

Lobos Del Mar 1  Obviously not interested in posing for the hundreds of tourists in small boats, this sea lion, or "lobo del mar," didn´t blink the entire time we passed by.
Death Of Lobo Del Mar :: Reserva Nacional de Paracas, Perú :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
Death Of Lobo Del Mar  We found this sea lion carcass on the beach, and my guide estimated that it had been there for several months. On touching the fins and body, I could tell the leathery toughness was going to hold for several more. The vultures got as much as they could but obviously left the rest.
Trombone Catching :: Lima, Perú :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
Trombone Catching  I loved watching these kids trying to catch the slider of this trombone. When the musician saw the kids lacking a little interest, he would lower the slider just within reach, and then when they jumped at it, he would raise it up again.
