Coastal Highway 8 :: Oregon, United States of America :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
Coastal Highway 8  Just playing around with the core shadows of this rock formation. Seems like it would make good stationary or letter footer.

Shoreline Rocks And Fog :: Oregon, United States of America :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
Shoreline Rocks And Fog  Where the ocean meets the shore the rocks play and the fog rolls between as smoothly as silk.

El Niño Exacts Revenge :: Nazca, Perú :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
El Niño Exacts Revenge  As one can see here, when El Niño was causing landslides and floods throughout the rest of Perú, it was also erasing a lot of the lines of Nazca.
From Mars? :: Ica, Perú :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
From Mars?  The only logical explanation I could reasonably accept for the presence of this huge white rock in the middle of nowhere is that landed from Mars. It was the only one of its kind that I saw for the entire duration of my trip. If you can think of a better explanation, please let me know!
Ghost Rock :: Reserva Nacional de Paracas, Perú :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
Ghost Rock  This shot is of a cool light trick I really liked: the lighter rock in the center is actually behind the opening in the darker rock. While sitting in a small boat at sea level, I was in perfect position for this composition to come to me.
Love Rock :: Reserva Nacional de Paracas, Perú :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
Love Rock  Like any human finding a natural symbol that has meaning within our culture, I took a moment to photograph this rock carved out by the sea.
Vertigo Sufferers Beware :: Reserva Nacional de Paracas, Perú :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
Vertigo Sufferers Beware  I took this image with my guide holding onto me so I could get just the right angle. I was looking straight down almost 300 feet.
