Perfect Circle In A Perfect Square :: Austin, Texas :: © 2005 Patrick Esmonde
Perfect Circle In A Perfect Square  Part of the balance that I travel back and forth on is between asymmetrical freedom and fascist symmetry. The interior dome in this image promotes the latter, where I zoomed in very closely and made a very precise crop--making sure that each corner was exactly the same. Additionally, when I shot this image I got on the floor and made sure that my camera was in the exact center by aligning it with the circle inlaid in the marble surface. Absolute symmetry can become an absolute obsession.

Seaside Sunset 2  I am not normally a rainbow kind of guy, but it was there and so was I.
Castle Builder :: Seaside Park, New Jersey :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
Castle Builder  How many castles have met their doom at the edge of an ocean? Why do we keep building them? No wall is tall enough nor moat deep enough to keep nature at bay. However, no storm is strong enough nor fire hot enough to keep us from trying again.

The Boardwalk Of Heaven :: Atlantic City, New Jersey :: © 2004 Patrick Esmonde
The Boardwalk Of Heaven  The multiple layers that vary in transparency is how I always imagined what heaven would look like. Memories and people moving throughout in a whirlwind of activity.

Light Post And Building Synergy :: Denver, Colorado :: © 2003 Patrick Esmonde
Light Post And Building Synergy  Lining up almost perfectly, the building and the light post are set majestically on a spotless blue sky. I love the angles and movement of the lines.

Roadside Farmhouse :: Missouri, United States of America :: © 2003 Patrick Esmonde
Roadside Farmhouse  Taken from an interstate gas station, this house was obviously long forgotten and just another part of the landscape to the locals. I knew this was the case when the gas station attendant looked at me like I had lost my mind and asked me what I was taking a picture of. When I exclaimed that I was looking at the really cool barn, he replied: "What barn?"
